A Plague Tale: Requiem, sequel to 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence, made its unexpected debut during E3 back in June. That moment came by way of a cinematic trailer, but tonight's Game Awards provided a first look at gameplay. To the surprise of no one who played the original, there are rats. Lots and lots of rats.
Exoprimal tests comingA new trailer was shown for Exoprimal, an upcoming co-op shooter about wearing mechanical suits and blasting hordes of dinosaurs, announcing closed network tests will be held ahead of its launch in 2023.
Silksong shows upNext up was a trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong, the highly antipicated sequel to Hollow Knight. The trailer showed snippers of gameplay and confirmed that it'll come to Game Pass, but a release date for the title remains elusive.
Overwatch 2 A new trailer for Overwatch 2 was shown, with confirmation of the game launching into early access on October 4, 2022. The shooter will be free-to-play, and a new tank character, Junkerqueen, was revealed during the announcement.
Ark 2 revealArk 2, the awaited sequel to 2017 dinosaur survival game Ark: Survival Evolved, was unveiled next. The announcement came with a brief trailer starring Vin Diesel, and it's due to release in 2023.
The direct squeezed over 90 games in total into a 70 minute showcase, including another look at Devolver's upcoming strategy game Terra Nil, a new trailer for Coffee Talk: Episode 2 which is due to launch soon, and a release window of summer 2022 for upcoming music game We Are OFK.
Team 17The Worms firm offered a glance at a mix of titles it has in the works, including OverBorder Studio's Thymesia, Woodland Games' Autopsy Simulator, RocketBrush Studio's The Unliving, Fika Productions' Ship of Fools, Stormind Games' Batora: Lost Haven and Super Mega Team's The Knight Witch. The publisher also showed off a trailer for turn-based combat game Sunday Gold, due for PC later this year.
Goat Simulator 3Oh-so-hilariously skipping '2' and riffing on the original Dead Island 2 trailer, Goat Simulator returns this autumn. Developed by Coffee Stain North, this is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Games Story.
WitchfireOriginally announced in 2017, Witchfire received a new trailer and a release window. The dark fantasy first-person shooter is developed by The Astronauts, the Polish indie behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and will be in Early Access exclusively on the Epic Games Store this Q4.
Another FPS from Squanch Games and the team behind Rick & Morty and Solar Opposites. With a pedigree like that, you're probably not surprised when I tell you most of the trailer was beyond bizarre, featuring several talking guns and one talking knife. Oh, and one of the guns sounds just like Morty.
How massive? That's a question Bethesda's Todd Howard asked himself in the presentation, and he answered with this: 1,000 fully explorable planets, spread across 100 star systems, all accessible via player-created and customized space ships. You'll be able to tweak your craft's look, features, and weapons systems. That last bit is particularly important as you'll definitely be running into hostile ships judging by the space-based dogfighting seen in the trailer.
Microsoft's "longest-running franchise" is getting a 40th-anniversary update that will add helicopters, gliders, and other unusual aircraft. Among the slew shown off in the trailer looked to be the Wright Bros' Kitty Hawk Flyer and the Spirit of St. Louis. Current Flight Simulator owners also received a nice surprise during the reveal: The UNSC Pelican from Microsoft's Halo series is available right now as a free add-on.
The short trailer for the game has a strong 1970s feel, with music from the era playing as a group of people appear to be repairing various things. Contraband relies heavily on cooperative play, with players having to work together to get out of various dangerous situations. 2b1af7f3a8
