If you want to use WinZip to unzip files, you can download a free trial of the software. This will give you access to all of the features of WinZip for 21 days, including unzipping files. However, once the trial period is over, you will need to purchase a license to continue using WinZip. So, if you only need to use WinZip for a short period of time, the trial version can be a great option.
You can download files and folders from Microsoft OneDrive, or from SharePoint in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, or SharePoint Server 2019 to your computer with just a few clicks.
To download individual or multiple files, select each item by clicking the circle check box that appears. (The left image below shows items in List view, the right image shows items in Tiles or Photos view.) (You can also select several files at once by selecting one file, scrolling down the list, then hold down the Shift key while left-clicking the last item you want to select.)
The Download button may sometimes disappear if you refresh the web page while looking at a folder. To work around this, you can go up one level in the folder directory and come back, or close that tab in your browser and navigate to the folder again.
If your browser prompts you, choose Save or Save As and browse to the location where you want to save the download. (Some browsers just start saving right away to a Downloads folder on your computer.)
If you need to free up space on your OneDrive, download your file or folder to a location outside of your OneDrive folders (see below). You can then delete the OneDrive copy of the file or folder to reduce your storage amount.
If you select multiple files or folders and then select Download from Microsoft OneDrive, SharePoint in Microsoft 365, or from SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, your browser will start downloading a .zip file containing all the files and folders you selected. If you're in a folder and you select Download without selecting any files or folders, your browser will begin downloading all contents of the folder.
On a mobile device, you can make files available offline, which is similar to downloading files. From the OneDrive app in iOS, Android, or Windows 10 phone, look for the Offline icon ( for Android or iOS, or for Windows mobile devices).
In the search box on the taskbar, type file explorer, and then select it from the list of results. Right-click the file you want to zip, and then select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.

WinRAR is a popular trialware program that is used to extract files from a folder or compress them into one. Released in 1995, WinRAR is a staple compression and extraction software that users have on their devices. The tool is compatible with Android, iOS, Linux, and Microsoft Windows electronics on both 32-bit and 64-bit equipment. People can use WinRAR on Windows 11, 10, XP, Vista 7, 8, and 9.
People have the ability to either buy the paid program or download trial version of WinRAR. The option that does not cost money prompts users to convert into the purchasable version. WinRAR notifies people of the benefits of paying for the tool through frequent pop-ups. If users are tolerable of the notifications, then they are able to use the free version inevitably.
The WinRAR download is completely safe to install. While the program is secure, you should use caution when downloading external files from emails or website browsers to zip and unzip them with WinRAR. Certain files can be malicious and disrupt the WinRAR application and the Android, Mac, or PC device.
The cross-platform archiver performs essential operations: packing and unpacking files and folders. The system has a simple user interface with tools of assistance: the Wizard feature which guides novices through the best process. WinRAR functions with RAR and ZIP files lets people view and create content. The app is available in a multitude of languages: English, Chinese, Indonesian, Turkish, etc.
I currently have a Google App Script in Google Sheet that gives me the URL of a folder, which I can then use to download. Though it is an extra step I would like to remove, and get the URL of the zipped content directly.
If you selected one file, a ZIP file with the same filename saves to that folder. If you selected multiple files, a ZIP archive named Archive.zip saves to that folder. To change its name, touch and hold on the ZIP archive, then select Rename.
I would like to know if there is a way to download the entire folder as a zip using Python? (this seems to be the normal behavior when we download folder from SharePoint directly) Reference code in any prog. language is also fine.
On the overall issue, I still don't have a clean solution. It would be great if Microsoft can expose an API to download folder as a zip. But, for now, we are just planning to solve it by zipping the folders and then upload to SP. The downside here is, even if need a single file, I might end up downloading the entire zip.
I am planning to request my users to zip the folders and upload them in SharePoint, and place the frequently accessed files separately (for now, it is just one file that I have to access often). And when in need, through the SP Automation code, download the entire zip and unzip it programmatically after download. We decided to temporarily go ahead with this workflow.
I have a similar implementation in Python. But it is really time consuming. For a folder with 2 sub folders and ~15 files within them and an overall size of 0.5MB, it takes around 6 seconds. I would like to understand if there is any other way to optimize and download the files faster, because in my real world use case, I need to download a folder of size 40MB with multiple nested folders and ~500-600 files within it.
This could be that we need to download the file one by one in SharePoint. This is by default, we cannot download them at the same time. So there is no other ways to optimize and download the files faster.
Using the CloudShell interface, you can upload or download a single file between your local machine and the shell environment at a time. To copy multiple files between CloudShell and your local machine at the same time, use one of the following options:
In the left navigation pane, choose Buckets, and then choose the name of the bucket that you want to upload your folders or files to. You can also create a bucket of your choice by choosing Create bucket.
To select the files and folders that you want to upload, choose Upload. Then, drag and drop your selected files and folders into the console window that lists the objects in the destination bucket, or choose Add files, or Add folders.
Download the contents of the bucket to your local machine. Because the Amazon S3 console doesn't support the downloading of multiple objects, you need to use the AWS CLI tool that's installed on your local machine.
I want to download a folder from iCloud Drive using the web interface (iCloud.com). The only problem is, since it is not zipped, I cannot download the folder. Is there a way to download the folder without having to sync the entire content of my iCloud Drive with my computer? 781b155fdc
