Mode-I fracture tests were conducted using a single edge notched beam (SENB) geometry, according to the ASTM D5045-99 standard test method. To ensure the plane strain conditions, the following specimen sample geometry was employed: 24 6 3 mm3. According to the standard, the crack length, a, was selected such that 0.45 < a/W < 0.55, where W is the sample width. The fracture tests were performed using the Lonos tenso test TT1 (Lonos Test, Monza, Italy) dynamometer equipped with 250 N load cell and at a displacement rate of 10 mm/min. The KIC values were calculated, according to the standard as:
where U is the corrected value of the energy and Φ is the energy calibration factor; U is obtained by subtracting Ui from UQ, i.e., the areas underneath the load-displacement curves for the cracked and un-cracked sample, respectively.
Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness tests were carried out to measure the crack propagation energy of the CFRPs in the mode I configuration, according to the standard ASTM D5528. The opening of the Mode I interlaminar fracture toughness, GIC, was measured by testing the DCB (double cantilever beam) specimens and for the statistical purpose, five samples were tested from each set of materials. The aluminum loading blocks were glued on the cracked side of the sample and starting with the tip of the crack, a series of markers were drawn on the lateral side: for the first 5 mm the marker spacing was 1 mm, while the subsequent markers were 5 mm apart from each other. The loading blocks were loaded in tension, with a crosshead speed equal to 1 mm/min, and the monitoring of the crack length and specimen aperture was performed using a speed camera. The crack length is 50 mm and it was introduced into the CFPR during the lamination stage interleaving a releasing film with a 13 µm thickness. The final sample dimensions were 125 25 4 mm3.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced the PlayStation 3 Slim, a smaller and lighter model of the console and a release date of 1 September 2009. Firmware 3.0 for the PlayStation 3 was also announced, adding new features to the PlayStation Network. Sony announced that the European Video Store would launch in November 2009. Sony also announced that the PlayStation Portable would get smaller games (under 100mb) in the form of 'minis' and that comics would also be available to download in December 2009. A \"free game\" registration promotion was announced for the PSP Go.
Microsoft Game Studios announced Fable III, along with a release date of 2010. Also, Microsoft announced their intention to release Fable II on the Xbox Live Marketplace in five episodes, the first of which will be free to download.
While most press conferences were not available for live streaming, Electronic Arts was streaming its press conference on EA.com.[11] Sony Computer Entertainment Europe also showcased its press conference on its online community-based service PlayStation Home shortly afterwards.[12] Sony also made its press conference available for download on the PlayStation Store. Various gaming websites offered live-blogging of the respective press conferences. 153554b96e
