June is almost as apt to run like hell from her own husband, Luke (O-T Fagbenle). Coming home to a familiar-yet-unfamiliar world is almost as terrifying and unsettling as the dangers she faced in Gilead.
Back home later that night, June panics before greeting Emily as she arrives with her son Oliver. After dinner, she kisses Luke for the first time but abruptly cuts off the intimacy. June is clearly struggling to adjust. But three upcoming conversations might help her begin to settle and heal.
Martin-Green and Ajala have had wonderful chemistry since Book arrived on the show back in Season 3. Usually the two have played off of each other with romantic chemistry and a flirting sexiness that has served as an undercurrent through the other stories, but in this case all of that builds the tension between the viewpoints that really helps drive home the way this is not just a philosophical debate. Book feels things, it is one of the primary characteristics of his people. Burnham has also been driven by passion and personal connection on the show but that has almost always been in the service of the greater good. The two sides cannot be brought back together easily. So Book breaks free.
It's Underwood Expository Theatre time again (different to Underwood suppository theatre, which was probably happening while he was in hospital) as Frank stalks a White House hallway and treats us all to a monologue about how surveillance on the scale he's considering is a gun that could blow up in his hand. He's obsessed with guns at the moment, which we suppose is only fair given he was shot recently. Oh, did the show mention he was shot recently Because he was shot recently. It's capped with Frank standing between portraits of JFK and Ronald Reagan, both of whom had experience with bullets, just like Frank. You half expect him to swing a sledgehammer to drive his points home here.
The episode was written by Sean Whitesell, who had previously worked as co-executive producer on the series. To date, this is the only House episode Whitesell has written. The episode became the second House episode to be directed by David Straiton, who had previously directed \"Family\". \"Ugly\" featured the second appearance of Dr. Samira Terzi (Michael Michele),[4] who made her first appearance in \"Whatever it Takes\".[5] Michele had previously played a doctor named Cleo Finch on the medical drama ER.[4] Omar Epps, who stars in House as Dr. Eric Foreman, also starred on ER, but two years before Michele.[6] As usual, the filming took place on the Fox lot in Century City.[7] This episode contained the song 'My home is your head' by Joseph Arthur.
When June returns home, she wakes Luke up and initiates sex, not letting him touch her. He tries to pause and check on her, but she keeps going. And despite the major step this is having just escaped Gilead, June seems more fueled by anger and frustration.
\"Presenting Lorelai Gilmore\" - Emily is horrified by Rory's low-rent cotillion with cotton tablecloths and folding chairs.\"The Bracebridge Dinner\" - This is one of my top 10 \"GG\" episodes. It makes great use of the entire cast and features a Björk snowwoman. What more could you want\"Help Wanted\" - Lane discovers her love of the drums, Carole King makes her first appearance, and Richard reminds us that he grew up in the 1950s and is a misogynist at heart.\"Haunted Leg\" - Lorelai Gilmore, notorious attention whore, longs for a good, impressive illness like a haunted leg.\"Swan Song\" - Emily and Jess have their first and only scene together and it is pure fucking magic.\"A Tale of Poes and Fire\" - The inn catches fire and in an attempt to entertain all of the errant children, Rory's puts on the world's laziest sock puppet show.\"Keg! Max!\" - I regret ever declaring my #TeamJess allegiance.\"The Lorelais' First Day at Yale\" - Paris rolls into Yale hot with a craft corner, life coach, and some \"emotional homework.\"\"Chicken or Beef - Pro-tip 1: If you drunkenly confess your love for someone else the night before your wedding, cancel that shit. Pro-tip 2: Don't get married when you're 18.
Number of times Rory or Lorelai treat their bff like shit:Lorelai is hella judgemental over Sookie's decision to have a home birth and practically gags at the mention of it. She later tells Rory, \"I was horrified and I hid it horribly. I wanted to be supportive but throw up at the same time.\" At least she's self-aware.
I find Sookie's storyline annoying and throwaway. Beau, Jackson's brother, shows up for the home birth and is salty when things don't go according to plan. Who the fuck invites a relative over before the baby is even born Lorelai reacts poorly to the news about the home birth but I kind of don't blame her for being concerned. Bruce (Rusty Schwimmer) is a goddamn nightmare human and even if she is \"the best midwife on the eastern seaboard,\" I wouldn't let her anywhere near my vagina. Was she raised in an underground bunker She has the bedside manner of Nurse Ratched.
Jackson, as always, is a moron and only useful for mundane errands (a plastic sheet, buckets, and balloons). My husband hates him. When Jackson started blathering on about the sheet, he screamed, \"Shut up, you grotesque worm.\" I don't think Lorelai should be judgemental about home birth, but maybe she has cause to worry about this one in particular. Everyone involved seems to be on a lead and mercury diet.
When Jack heads home, Mel calls him out for drinking again. Joey shows up to interrupt all of this though, hitting out at Mel for getting involved, pointing out that Nate has cancelled the wedding as a result.
After work Snooki runs home to call Jionni, who has been fighting with Snooki recently, and the two share a heated exchange. Snooki says that Jionni has been rude and that Ron, Sam, Deena and JWOWW all agree with her. Jionni counters by saying Snooki and Ronnie have been rude to him and that he is no longer coming out to Italy to visit her.
